BHA Scheduled Events
The following events are scheduled for BHA members over the next year. Registration for these events will be available in future issues of the Babbling Brook, but feel free to mark your calendar now.
Live Theater in Downtown Naperville: The Comedy Shrine “Whose Line” - October 17 2009 8:00 p.m.
This is a night for adults only. This comedy stage show features top professional actors performing short form improv. Show features audience interaction making each show unique.
Trick or Treating at Tabor Hills - October 2009 (Date TBD)
Pre-school age children wear their costumes and get a jump on Halloween at Tabor Hills.
Bring the tots - 2nd grade kids to Airtastic, an indoor play land that offers a fun and exciting play experience where children can bounce around with family and friends. Great way to wear them out before bed!
Feed My Starving Children - January 9, 2010 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Children 3rd grade and older (FMSC requires all child volunteers to be at least in the 3rd grade) and adults will hand-pack meals formulated specially for starving children which will get shipped to more than 60 countries around the world..
Vertical Endeavors - February 2, 2010 (Time TBD)
For all ages. Vertical Endeavors is an indoor full service climbing facility offering 18,000 sq. ft. of climbing on three different wall types.
This is a night for adults only. Evening will include bowling for two hours, billiards for two hours, appetizers and drinks.
Easter Egg Hunt and - March 2010 (Date TBD)
Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt
Birth - 8th Grade. Come out for an Easter Egg Hunt with colorful candy-filled plastic eggs. The hunt is located in the park next to the Brookdale Racquet club.
Garage Sale - May 2010 (Date TBD)
BHA Subdivision-wide Garage Sale.
Kane County Cougar’s Game - June 2010 (Date TBD)
The Cougar’s are a Class A baseball team affiliated with the Oakland Athletic’s. Come on out for a ball game with your neighbors.
July 4th Parade and Picnic - July 4, 2010 10:30 - 12:30
The parade is to celebrate the fourth of July. The picnic follows immediately after the parade and is held in the park next to the Brookdale Racquet Club.
This event is yet to be finalized, but we know it will include food and fun. Please watch for more information on this event in the near future

Fall 2009 Children’s Clothing and Toy Sale
Were you looking for this fantastic sale last Spring but couldn’t find it? Well, here is some great news for all the families who enjoy participating (either selling, buying or both).
Three energetic Brookdale Moms have offered to coordinate the sale for the Fall! They are excited to get started and will do a fantastic job. Many, many thanks go out to Ann Cotner, Alison Hannon and Ashley Schultz.
They are looking for sellers of gently used children’s clothing (especially Fall and Winter items) toys, baby gear, books, maternity clothes, etc.
- Note: Sellers are asked to work at the sale to ensure that everything runs smoothly for everyone involved.

Suggestion Wanted For BHA Welcome Committee
The BHA Welcome Committee is working on a few changes to the Welcome Bags that we provide to new Brookdale residents. We are hoping to include a light-hearted listing of:
Things We Wish We Knew On the First Day That We Moved to Brookdale
For example:
- Park district registration for Fall soccer is in April/May
- There is a map of Brookdale in the back of the Brookdale phone book
- Keep last year's Brookdale phone book in your car in case you need to call a neighbor in a pinch
- You can email me with your suggestions.

BHA Subdivision Garage Sale

Please reserve the date and get ready to make some extra $$$! This annual event will be held 8am—3pm on both Friday and Saturday. Please fill out the form below if you want to be listed on the subdivision map which will be available for sellers to distribute. No phone numbers or names will be listed—just addresses.
UPDATE: The official 2009 Garage Sale Map is now available for printing and distibution. Please download the map and ship it to all your friends!!!! We have 62 residents participating in the sale this year 
The deadline to reserve your participation is Friday May 15th

You can send email to: bha.webmaster@aboutbrookdale.org to have your homeaddress added to the map if you miss the deadline
The sale is free for participants. The BHA will pay for ads in local newspapers and will post signs around the neighborhood in advance the days of the sale. Sellers may pick up a “seller pack” on Wednesday 5/27 or Thursday 5/28 at 935 Stonehenge, which will contain balloons for your mailbox and a supply of maps to hand out to buyers.

Spring Clothing Sale ----> CANCELED
Please put away those hangers and sale tags....
The BHA board voted to cancel the Spring Clothing Sale for 2009. The decision was based on the fact that a volunteer to coordinate the sale never came forward. It is our hope the sale will resume in the Fall.
If you are interested in working with the BHA to coordinate events please contact one of the BHA board members... We are always looking for help managing our many events... Often, residents are happy to help but few wish to coordinate them.

Brookdale Buccaneers 2009 Registration Night
Registration night will be held Monday, April 20, 2009 in the Hill Middle School Commons. An informational meeting for parents of both new and returning swimmers will be held at 7:00 p.m. Swimmer registration and parent job sign-up will be held after the informational meeting on a lottery basis. Lottery numbers will be handed out starting at 6:45 p.m. through 7:30 p.m. Numbers will be randomly drawn as each family arrives. Registration will start at 7:45 p.m. with lottery ticket number 1 and follow sequentially. Fees for the 2009 season will be $130/swimmer for Brookdale Racquet Club members plus a $20/family concessions fee.

Our 26th annual outing will again be held at Fox Bend Golf Club. It has been a long winter and we are all ready for some fun. Pairings with tee times will be completed and sent out to each player before the outing. We will again have an optional CALCUTTA.

Morning Movie - Madagascar 2 @ Nova Theater
Just to clarify, the morning movie is on November 11th.
- They will be showing Madagascar 2 at the Nova theater.
The doors open at 9:30 and show time is at 10:00am. Tickets are $6.00 and include a popcorn and a drink. In order to make sure that there is enough staff to accomodate our crowd, I need a rough estimate of how many are planning to attend.

Brookdale Adult Mixer
On November 15th, the BHA is hosting an adult mixer at the Comedy Shrine in Downtown Naperville. In order to purchase the tickets, you must sign up by November 7th.
Tickets are $23 each and there is a one drink minimum.
