Brookdale supports the Teal Pumpkin Project – so that kids with food allergies and dietary restrictions can enjoy Halloween and trick or treat safely. FARE (the Food Allergy Research Education organization) launched the Teal Pumpkin Project in 2014 to bring national awareness to food allergies and sensitivities on Halloween.
Homeowners’ Association (BHA) and the great neighbors in Brookdale the Best Neighborhood in Naperville want to make sure all children come home on Halloween night with something they can enjoy. Neighbors can provide a simple, non-food treat such as glow sticks, stickers, washable tattoos, and other small toys as an alternative to candy and food.
Neighbors can still offer their favorite candy and treats. The point of the Teal Pumpkin Project® is to make trick-or-treating as inclusive as possible. Keep the experience safe by separating food treats and non-food treats in different bowls. Give Trick or Treaters their choice of treats.
