At the June 10, 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the members of the Brookdale Neighborhood Association (BNA), members will elect officers of the BNA Board of Directors including the President, Treasurer, Membership, Webmaster, and Secretary. Officers are elected to 2-year terms beginning July 1st.

Webmaster – Carrie Cole
Secretary – volunteer needed
Newsletter Editor or Co-editors – volunteers needed

 

We need volunteers for Secretary (currently Patti Dougherty) and Newsletter Editor(s) (currently Carrie Cole). We also need volunteers for the Newsletter / Communications team – assistant editors, email coordinator, and production assistants for print and digital editions. 

 

The Secretary takes and communicates the Board meeting minutes (monthly or every 2 months), coordinates note taking at committee and team meetings and shares the notes with volunteers as needed. The Secretary notifies Board members of Board meetings, keeps meetings on track, and notes attendees. The Secretary may also assist with or coordinate the design, preparation and placement of signs, posters, postcards, emails and fliers advising members of important meetings and events, working closely with the Newsletter Editors, Webmaster and Membership Director.

 

The Newsletter Editor or Co-editors manage the production of the BNA’s annual membership newsletter (both print and digital) and the monthly digital newsletter emailed to all members. Newsletter Editors communicate with monthly and annual content providers and advertisers and coordinate the production of annual printed and monthly digital newsletters. 

 

We need a small newsletter team to divide responsibilities such as content creation, editing, formatting content for email and print distribution and producing the print editions (sending copy to the printers, picking up newsletters and coordinating distribution to Regional Distributors and Block Captains). The Membership Director would like several volunteers to assist with the annual membership drive and editing the digital and printed Member Directories. We’d like to solicit advertisers or sponsors for the printed Member Directory to help offset the cost of printing. We hope one or more of the Membership Committee will volunteer for the Membership Director at some point. 

 

At the AGM, the current Civic Directors (Carolina Bitelli and Rod Curtis) will update members on the Civic Chats and other civic events and concerns for the Brookdale neighborhood. Social Director Shanya Gilmore will introduce herself and update social events and volunteer sign ups. Shanya would love to meet all BNA members, especially everyone who volunteers for all our social events.

 

We hope to see all BNA members at the Annual General Meeting on June 10 at 6:30 pm (food and beverages) and 7:00 pm for the fun and interesting business meeting and officer elections.
